To whom this may concern ,

We, the people, put it to you, to implement mandatory maximum sentencing in crimes against children, ensuring that anyone who causes the death of child, through child abuse or murder receives the maximum penalty in the state of conviction as a mandatory sentence, thus therefore eliminating the sentencing hearing for these crimes. We also put it to you to implement mandatory life sentences for the crime of child abuse. We also ask that this law be named Jared's Law, in honor of Jared Klein, a six year old boy who was murdered for trying to stop his mom being attacked.

The reason's why we feel the implementation of Jared' Law is the only way for the future is outlined in the following statistics.

The last published statistics of child abuse recorded that 906,000 children are abused each year. Even though there are over 3 million child abuse reports per year only 906,000 of these were convicted, each holding an average sentence of 3.5years INCLUDING probation.

Take the 906,000 convicted, the average child abuser, abuses 212 children in their life time, but for this example we will say they abuse 1 child before conviction. Of the 906,000 abused, 33% of them WILL repeat the cycle, which is another 298,980 abusers/victims, of 906,000 initial offenders, 60% are recorded to re offend, (although this number is incredibly higher, but these are the offenders which get caught within the first three years of being released) This mean's they abuse another 543,600, of them 33% repeat the cycle, which is another 179, 388, so now we have a total of 1,927,968 victims, and 1,384,638 abusers walking the streets! This is within just a few years!

If Jared's Law was in place we would see a dramatic decrease within just a few years! Of the 906,000 abusers, they would be incarated, they leave behind, 298,600 new abusers, created from the abuse in which were responsible for, they would be incarated. As the sentence would be life in prison they would not have the chance to re-offend, there would be 1,204,600 victims, and NO abusers on the street, this is already a decrease of 723,368 victims in just ONE abuse cycle!

Let's take a look on what this costs the tax payers and government of America.

$6,625,959,263 per year in hospital costs for the survivors.

$1,080,706,049 in mental health cost for survivors.

$25,361,329,051 in child welfare agencies.

$27, 979,811,982 - 13% of child abuse survivors are incarated in crimes relating to the abuse they experienced.

$2,410,306, 242 in special education for children disabled because of abuse.

$7,174,814,134 in round the clock for survivors left disabled because of abuse.

$33,019,919,544 in disability benefits for survivors.

$1,314,000,000 in monitoring costs for released non sexual child abusers.

$314,640,000 in monitoring costs for released sexual child abusers

These abusers then gain the right to fight for the children they abused back, we then foot the costs of the court hearing and lawyers.

By implementing Jared's Law not only would we see a massive decrease in cost within the first cycle from the cost above, but we would be eliminating the cost of sentencing hearings.

We would also see a decrease in crimes, the last published official child abuse statistics, we see the consequences of child abuse resulting in:

80% suffer from depression (which is diagnosed)

25% more likely to fall pregnant during teen years

3 times more likely to have unprotected sex, leaving them open to diseases such as AIDS or HIV .

59% more likely to end up incarcerated.

30% will be arrested for violent crimes

2.5 times more likely to develop an alcohol problem

3.8 times more likely to develop drug problems

Over 60% of persons in rehabilitation for addiction are abuse survivors

We ask you the undersigned, when are you going to put a stop to this? When are you going to take a stand and say no more! When will you stop releasing these child abusers and murderers back into society?

The mandatory sentencing for someone who commits murder during a robbery, which the murder, is not premeditated, the weapon is taken to scare as opposed to kill is the maximum penalty available in the state of conviction, whether this be Death or Life without parole. However, if you systematically abuse your own children, or someone else's child until they die of horrific injuries, the perpetrator can call it manslaughter or child abuse resulting in death, and get a sentence of just a few years, or probation! How! Why! Even in crimes where the murder is unknown to the victim, they are being released, look at the death of Roberta Francis, she was murdered by a convicted paedophile, he was released recently, he is already back in prison for another child sex crime and he is about to be released! When are you going to start protecting the children we have left? When are you going to stop releasing people back into the society of decent people! YOU have the power to protect our children!

We the people, DEMAND the implementation of Jared's Law, not only is it the only way forward for America's children of tomorrow, but it would save the tax payers and government billions of dollar per year! Can you afford to continue to ignore this?

Your sincerely,

The people of America!
